FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Saugeen Shores, ON – March 2025 – Homeowners in the Gobles Grove neighbourhood of Saugeen Shores will be able to access lightening-fast Fibre-to-the-HomeInternet before the summer.
The announcement follows six months of construction to install more than 11 kilometres of cutting-edge Fibre Optic technology in the area. The upgrade will significantly enhance internet connectivity for local residents and businesses, ensuring faster, more reliable internet service. Nearly 400 homes will be eligible for the upgrade.
“We have been working closely with local contractor Weber Contracting to install the fibre, and they are just two weeks away from completing construction. We expect to begin connecting customers to the new high-speed fibre internet the first week of May,” said Stephanie Brunato, Director of Customer Service, Bruce Telecom.
As the region’s only local communications provider, Bruce Telecom is committed to delivering state of the art digital connections, trustworthy service and building a resilient community. The Gobles Grove project is the third phase of the company’s commitment to bring Fibre Optic internet technology to all properties in Port Elgin.
“As a Canadian company with all local employees that prioritizes working with local partners, this initiative reflects our dedication to building a strong and connected community to ensure that our local residents and businesses can thrive in today’s digital world,” Brunato said.
The upgrade to Fibre Optic service is free for all Bruce Telecom customers, while new customers can take advantage of the area’s fastest and most reliable Internet. Bruce Telecom invites all property owners in the area to sign a consent form that will allow the construction company to access their property to prepare it for easy connection to the fibre technology. By providing this consent there is no obligation to sign up with Bruce Telecom. To access a map of properties within the build area, or to access the consent form, visit www.brucetelecom.com.
Fibre Optic technology (“Fibre to the Home”) provides numerous advantages over traditional copper wiring, including:
- Blazing speeds: Customers will have access to internet speeds of up to 1GB, perfect for seamless virtual working and meeting, streaming, gaming, and downloading.
- Increased reliability: Fibre Optics are less susceptible to interference, delivering a more stable and consistent connection.
- Enhanced capacity: As more devices connect to the internet, Fibre Optics can handle increased bandwidth demands, making it ideal for households and businesses alike.
- Futureproofing: This upgrade positions the Gobles Grove area for future technological advancements, ensuring residents have access to the latest innovations.
In addition to high-speed internet, Bruce Telecom will offer comprehensive Digital TV service and home phone options. We also provide the best bundles available, allowing customers to personalize their packages to suit their unique needs.
